Why this topic is important

Bribery and corruption are deeply harmful because they undermine democracy, weaken the rule of law, and damage social and economic development. Economically, corruption destroys free and fair competition, making societies poorer and less competitive. It also poses a severe security threat by fuelling organised crime, enabling hostile state activity, and driving global instability and conflict. Ultimately, corruption steals from the public to benefit a small elite

Consequently most countries have anti-bribery and corruption legislation and, in the UK, that is the Bribery Act 2010. That Act puts extra responsibilities on managers, directors and officers of an organisation who have a duty to prevent bribery and for whom ‘turning a blind-eye’ is not an option.

This course – and the related Anti-Bribery and Corruption course for general staff – go a long way to meeting an organisation’s obligation to foster and communicate an anti-bribery and corruption culture, whilst monitoring and reviewing their policies, alongside maintaining adequate records – a firm foundation for any defence should the worst ever happen.
