Why this topic is important
Sexual harassment is not Jimmy Saville – we can all recognise and agree that is unacceptable (we hope). Sexual harassment can be a lot more insidious than that and the perpetrator may not even be aware – ‘it was just banter’ - but it has real life consequences: humiliation, loss of confidence, leaving employment or worse.
UK legislation has been strengthen in 2026 and places a duty on all employers to take all reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment at work, including that perpetrated by customers and others from outside the organisation. The consequences can be significant for both the individual perpetrator and the organisation, with significant fines and loss of reputation.
This course goes a long way to meeting an organisation’s obligation to take all reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment and - alongside appropriate policies and procedures – is a firm foundation for any defence should the worst ever happen.
